The vowel (( a )) makes the words right.
1. sauté (potatoes, onions, meat) = to cook food in oil or fat over heat, very gently;
2. sear (! difficult) = to fry a piece of meat quickly at a high temperature;
3. braise = to cook food slowly in a covered dish in a little fat and liquid; 4. roast = to cook food in an oven or over a fire;
5. bake = to bake is to bake! a cake, for instance= to cook inside a cooker without using added water or fat;
6. poach = to cook sth such as a fish or an egg with its shell removed, by putting it in gently boiling water - it all made me feel hungry despite getting down to it in the middle of my breakfast!
